Viena Honey - a cosmetics webshop prototype as a personal project
Viena Honey is an imaginary natural cosmetics company that develops products using the benefits of nature’s honey.
Client: Viena Honey Cosmetics
Project: To design a mobile eCommerce
site for an imaginary cosmetics brand
Date: June 2023
Pain points
After the succesful business in the US, Viena Honey is intending to launch an ecommerce site for their customers in Europe. They want to maintain the brand’s recognisability, and to have the site designed as easy to use as possible.
The task
I wanted to create a prototype in Figma for training purposes. The task at hand was to idealize and create an imaginary brand, and to design a mobile ecommerce site keeping usability in priorities.
Process
In the beginning I created the brand’s visual identity, which consisted a logo, product images and brand images. All the images are downloaded from Unsplash as free to use licence. When I had designed commercial materials (an advert and product visualisation), I launched a survey for a group of 4 to get the idea of what aspects I should prioritize in the design. User needs varied from clear product categories to high quality photography. Easy accessible and informative product information was also appreciated.
When the design was taking its’ form, I conducted a user testing for one participant. The results were good and they confirmed the project was going in the right direction.
From wireframes to layouts
After figuring out the user flow, I decided to create two possible user journeys for the prototype. I wanted to have large high quality images that match the brand’s look and feel. I also used color hierarchy for the buttons – orange indicates an act of purchase, while green is leading to a social community platform.
Component design in detail
I also designed a menu components as well as UI icons and a footer.
Finished design
Key takeaways
This personal project was a greatly educational training exercise for learning UX/UI design. I learned new actions and commands in Figma, and conducting a user survey was very helpful in the project. This is my first own project, and it makes me proud and even more enthusiastic about the field of design.
